Organized by Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) and Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, the seminar was held on July 28, 2014 at Hong Kong Science Park.

Dr. Edward A. Dennis, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), shared his scientific research on Lipid Metabolomics Expanding Role in the Omics Evolution in Health, Nutrition, and Disease. Industry and academic players attended the seminar, having a fruitful networking session.

HKBIO was one of the supporting organizations of 2014 Hong Kong Awards for Industries. Mr. Andy Liu, HKBIO Vice Chairman – International Affairs, was invited to serve the Preliminary Judging Panel of the 2014 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Technological Achievement. This award was designed to recognize excellence in technology and intellectual property development as well as its contribution to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO), Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) were pleased to announce the recent success of co-organizing the Hong Kong Biotechnology Delegation, comprising prominent Hong Kong biotech companies and organizations, to exhibit at the BIO 2014 International Convention at San Diego during June 24-26. Prior to the Exhibition, a side mission to San Diego was also organized to visit key biotechnology companies, research and educational institutes during June 19-23. The Hong Kong Biotechnology Delegation has become a tradition, providing opportunities for delegates to meet international biotech players and explore collaboration opportunities between biotech industries of Hong Kong and worldwide.

Representing HKBIO, Prof Albert YU (Chairman of HKBIO) was invited to attend the networking reception to launch Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK)’s 2014 StartmeupHK Venture Program and Global Awards. Designed to create a buzz among entrepreneurs in the local and overseas startup communities, the program is intended to help promote Hong Kong as a startup destination, bring global entrepreneurs to the city and facilitate collaboration between overseas entrepreneurs and Hong Kong-based startups/companies. Gregory So (Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development) was the Guest of Honour, joined by leading players from Hong Kong’s startup and venture capital communities. InvestHK is a department of the Hong Kong SAR Government responsible for Foreign Direct Investment, supporting overseas, Mainland and Taiwanese businesses to set up and expand in Hong Kong. The department provides free advice and customised services to help businesses succeed in the city's economy.
