Business of Intellectual Property Asia Forum (BIP Asia), jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Design Centre with sponsor from the Intellectual Property Department of HKSAR Government, will be held on December 2, 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, coinciding with the Inno Design Tech Expo, World SME Expo and the Business of Design Week. HKBIO is one of the supporting organizations of the event.

BIP Asia is the best connection for IP business. This effective platform links IP owners, buyers and sellers, R&D professionals, finance and legal intermediaries, industry associations, and design and technology practitioners from all over the world under one roof to discuss the latest developments in the IP world, and to explore business collaboration opportunities. The forum focuses on the trade aspects of IP, especially buy-sell, monetization and licensing, through a special program designed to connect IP players and help participants explore new business through networking and sharing sessions. Click here for the program.

October 14 - 18, 2011

The U.S. Department of Commerce / Commercial Service has organized the U.S. Biotech Trade Mission to Beijing and Hong Kong on October 14-18, 2011. Led by Francisco J. SANCHEZ, Under Secretary for International Trade at the U.S. Department of Commerce, about 15 U.S. representative biotech / life science companies were able to meet with local partners, distributors, researchers and investors in Hong Kong on October 17 and 18. Upon receiving the Under Secretary, Professor Albert Cheung-Hoi YU, Chairman of HKBIO, spoke on biotechnology industry development in Hong Kong and embarked on its strength. Interactive discussion was carried out on possible collaboration opportunities. HKBIO is a supporting organization of the welcoming luncheon for the Under Secretary on October 18.

Hawaii Business and Entrepreneur Acceleration Mentors (HiBEAM) launched the Hawaii Tech Asia (HTA) which brought fifteen Hawaii and US technology entrepreneurs to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai for initiating connections with potential investors, distributors, suppliers, partners, and customers. HKBIO and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation co-organized a networking session to meet the founders and CEOs of these companies. With the aim to step up connection with industry associations in Hong Kong, HKBIO met with representatives from Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Hong Kong and Australian Government. Prof. Albert Cheung-Hoi YU, Chairman of HKBIO and Dr. Terence Lok-Ting LAU, Executive Vice Chairman of HKBIO, discussed with them on mutual support to trade and investment events as well as market information sharing.
