Dr. Gina Jiang joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2020 as the Head for Technology Integration and Application at the Office of Strategic Developments. Concurrently, she is appointed as the Managing Director for the Hong Kong Institute of Biotechnology (HKIB). Dr. Jiang’s key role at CUHK and HKIB is to build the first GMP Facility for Cell Therapy Manufacturing in Hong Kong and to utilize design thinking to align stakeholders to integrate clinical needs, technology, and business. Prior to joining CUHK, Dr. Jiang was the co-founder and CEO of FGMi, Inc (丰聚醫創), a startup based in Taipei that puts patient experience design at the center of medical technology and innovation. Through FGMi, Dr. Jiang established an impactful and high efficient patient-experience innovation center within an university hospital that works with industry partners to develop novel products and solutions to unmet clinical needs.

Dr. Jiang is an interdisciplinary and multicultural medical entrepreneur. Born in Taipei and having grown up in Taiwan, USA, and Canada, her idea of medical innovation is humanity first. She received a bachelor degree in math and psychology from the University of Toronto, and a medical degree from Peking University. She was previously a research fellow in cartilage tissue engineering at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, and more recently a biomedical fellow at Stanford School of Medicine and Stanford d.school, where she was trained in translational medical technology, biodesign, and sustainable innovative strategies. In her spare time, Dr. Jiang draws cartoons. She joined the growing international graphic medicine community and is collaborating with the National Taiwan Suicide Prevention Center and the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan to apply graphic narratives to depression screening.
