The talk video will be available on the Multimedia Information System of Hong Kong Public Libraries or other platforms. Please pay attention for further details to be announced later on the website of Hong Kong Public Libraries.

The speaker will provide the audience an in-depth and easy-to-comprehend introduction to threat of viruses to human lives from the perspective of biotechnology.

Our knowledge of viruses is still badly inadequate while modern medical biotechnology and scientific knowledge are advancing by leaps and bounds. Humans are making progress, whereas viruses are constantly mutating and adapting. Nowadays, with frequent global interchanges and dense urban populations, the threat of viruses to humans will only become more frequent and more difficult to prevent.

It is expected that the talk would enhance audience’s understanding in how the modern biotechnology and medical advancements contribute to therapy for diseases caused by viruses and other new medical treatments of viral infections.
